Family Fun Drinks

Although the cold winter bug has yet to leave the Bluegrass, hints
of spring are beginning to emerge from their long hibernation.
Finches and cranes are migrating over the region, flowers are
budding, and even a few lawnmowers have hummed to trim away the
small splotches of grass. One of the best things about changing
seasons is new fresh food to experience. One such item, a Blueberry
Cream Slushy is a great and quick drink for the whole family.
Although blueberries and strawberries,
the key ingredients to this slushy, are currently out of season,
frozen fruits can be used instead to satisfy that cool-treat
craving. One can also substitute the type of fruits used.
Strawberries and bananas, raspberries, or lemon-lime juices can help
anyone in the family find their favorite spring and summer delight.
The Ingredients used for the traditional Blueberry Cream Slushy are,
1 cup frozen blueberries
1 cup frozen strawberries
1 cup pineapple and orange juice blend
1 cup vanilla yogurt
2 teaspoons sugar
6 ice cubes
First blend everything together except the ice until ingredients are
finely mixed. Then, add the ice cubes and mix until pieces of ice
are small enough to fit through a straw yet slightly large enough to
crunch into. For a little extra touch, add a sprig of mint on top of
the drink and insert a straw to fully experience this wonderful
slushy.
This fruity treat is something the whole family to enjoy. Not only
does it taste great, but fresh fruits are healthy and low fat for
everyone trying to fit into that tiny bikini at the beach. Any juicy
fruits can be substituted for the blueberries and strawberries, just
mix and enjoy!
